The World Gold Council’s investment research programme provides investors around the world with key information about gold. This includes the publication of a wide range of research papers – both by acknowledged academics and in-house experts - looking at gold's investment characteristics, including its special characteristics as a store of value, inflation and currency hedge, and portfolio diversifier.

Statistics

A rolling programme of data collection and analysis produces several distinct sets of statistics covering the following areas:

• Prices Graphs and spreadsheets of daily, monthly and annual gold prices in different currencies
• Investment statistics Statistics and charts of correlations, historical volatility and exchange rate effects in at least dozen countries.
• Supply & demand statistics Latest statistics detailing gold consumption and supply and demand flows.

• Gold reserve statistics Recent and historical data on central bank holdings of gold.
