Double Eagle sales remain strong

Sales of 2009 Ultra High Relief Double Eagle gold coins have stayed resilient recently.Coin News reported that these $20 coins have seen strong sales in the past week, with the US Mint adding 2,259.
The total for the year is now 82,959.
Sales of American Eagle gold bullion coins were also healthy, rising steadily throughout August.
From 6,500 on August 5th, they rose to 23,000 a week later, then 45,000 a week after that.
By the 26th, they had reached 60,000.
This year, the US Mint has so far sold 816,500 gold American Eagle bullion coins.
Also going strong were Jackson's Liberty First Spouse proof coins, which actually sold out.
While its previous weekly increase in sales had been 34, the latest one was 261.
The US Mint released the 2009 Ultra High Relief Double Eagle gold coin in January.
It is 24-carat gold, which the mint explains is more malleable than coins with a lower concentration of the precious metal.
